About the Author
Dr. Shawn has served on numerous community and civic boards; held many leadership positions within those organizations; received numerous awards and recognitions; and served on several college accreditation reaffirmation teams. He holds Bachelor of Science, Master of Education, and Doctor of Education degrees with a concentration in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida. He also holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Florida A & M University College of Law and a Homeland Security Specialist Certificate from Hillsborough (Community) College. He is a member of the Florida Bar.
He is the published author of three leadership books, two novellas, four collections of short stories, and ten children’s books. His leadership books, Six Heads and Broken Liver, were 2023 winners in the Literary Global Book Awards Business - Entrepreneurship and Management categories, respectively, with all three leadership books (including Wing Night) being named a finalist in the Nonfiction - Inspirational category.
His novellas, She Folds and Launder Care, were recognized as Finalists in the American Book Fest International Books Awards Novella Contest in 2022. His 2023 collection of short stories, The Dreamer and the Dreams: A Short Story Series was a winner in the Literary Global Book Awards for Best Cover Design and a finalist in the Fiction - Cross-Genre category.
In 2022 and 2023, he released his podcast series, 15 Minutes with Dr. Shawn, which focused on leadership and personal awareness. His books have also been presented as part of the Tampa/Ybor City Saturday Market, the Tampa Cuban Sandwich Festival, the Oxford Exchange Book Fair, Ybor City Santa’s Workshop Artist Festival, the Next Level Networking Series, and the Inaugural Tampa International Book Fair. He has spoken on Leadership to young business professionals, honors students, and at the 2023 Florida Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Conference.
